Akshaya Patra provides nutritious mid-day meals to around 10 million under-privileged children a day as part of the mid-day meal school program, thus reducing drop-out rates in school. This initiative is a great example of involvement of NGO’s and private sector firms along with the government to bring about a positive change in society. It has got accolades from none less than the distinguished former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and President Barack Obama of the US.
BeeHyv makes yearly contributions to Akshaya Patra since 2009.
We thank BeeHyv for its regular contributions from 2009 onwards till now towards the cause of Akshaya Patra. We greatly thank you for donating about Rupees 19.0 Lakhs over the years to our foundation to make children attend the schools and get the education. With this support, we have fed about 2500 children, a free lunch, so that they doesn’t drop out of school for want of food and continue education. It was a great gesture from Beehyv to have selected such a noble cause as to not to allow a child to drop out of education because of hunger. We thank your organization once again for your increasing support every year.
BeeHyv made a contribution to the Sahyog initiative of the Chehak Trust(sahyogchehak.org).
Sahyog is a community based education and health initiative of the CHEHAK TRUST(reg no. E – 21112), which is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. Sahyog works in two slum areas of Mumbai, Jari Mari Kurla and Dindoshi, Goregaon. Sahyog’s various activities are largely directed at improving the situation of healthcare and education in the community. Without attempting to duplicate existing efforts – both in the government and voluntary sector, Sahyog aims to improve access to these services both by collaborating with existing organisations as well as increasing community awareness and mobilisation. The long-term objective of Sahyog is to create a secular, progressive and empowering space, which enables the development of a cadre of well-trained, socially committed young leaders.
BeeHyv’s contribution was utilised for renovation work(like building a toilet and replacing a ladder) in schools and other activities.
Inspired by the famous exhortation of Sw. Vivekananda – “They alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead than alive” , a value based initiative by the name ‘Vivekdeep’ is launched for under privileged children in Dwarka, New Delhi. The experiment started in April 2014 with 25 slum children. Parents of these children build our society as masons, gardeners, vegetable vendors and house maids.
Real education is the need of hour. Education should be such that it will clear the ‘Conscience ( Vivek)’ of the learner and act as a ‘light(deep)’. With this light of conscience, the child will then easily distinguish between right and wrong, true and false and never falter in the walk of life.
Hence ‘Vivekdeep’ was lighted.
The program is so designed that the learner becomes Spiritually awakened, Mentally agile and Physically strong.
Every day the class starts with meditation and recitation from scriptures. Then classes are held on Mathematics, General Science, Social Science and Spoken English. Knowledge delivery is done in such a way that there is at least one moral take away irrespective of the subject taught.
At the end of the class, students are given milk and fruit. Regular medical check-up is also done for the students. In this short span, it has shown remarkable impact and people from various walks of life are eager to join this unique movement.
You would be glad to know that yesterday (11th Oct, ’20) we distributed tablets to the 2nd batch of students.
The young learners are sending a huge Shout Out to your entire team for your benevolence in helping them continue their studies in this trying times.
